Between Globality and Locality: Europe in a Global Context – LLL programme
Rationale and objectives: 1) to create a centre of academic excellence in the western border region of Hungary, targeting disadvantaged regions and populations with new post graduate courses in European Studies; 2) to provide the public space for multi-stakeholder debates on the challenges of European integration in an increasingly competitive, globalized world and Europe’s role in the world; 3) to enhance regional cooperation and integration through exchanges between institutions of higher education in the new member states and new EU neighborhoods.
Outputs: The development and implementation of 6 new courses which address new needs of students throughout the region related to EU integration and the role of the EU in the world. The organization of cross-border lecture series, roundtable debates and conference for students, educators, civil society, business and government increases public discussion.
Impact: Creating new knowledge, enhancing the quality of education through new courses; increasing diversity of student and scholar exchanges; increasing the regional understanding and impact of EU integration through public lecture series. An English volume (+CD Rom version) and working papers will be published from contributions to the lecture series in English and Hungarian for further dissemination.
